About Heidi Helping the Homeless

It All Began with a Bag of Burgers
Our founder, Heidi Harrison, has a heart for helping people, especially those experiencing homelessness. She began her outreach in 2018 after her counselor pointed out a group of homeless people and told her that if she didn't start taking her mental health medication, she could end up on the street like them.
As she reflected on that word of caution, she began thinking how hungry those people must be. So she bought 30 hamburgers and drove all over town looking for hungry people. She found them, and Heidi Helping the Homeless (HHH) was born.

Now, HHH is an approved 501(c)3 organization with a building that houses a thrift store to help fund our operations. Besides the store, other parts of our building house a computer room where those we serve can apply for services, a “wet room” where they can do laundry and shower, and a pantry where they can get food.

We have volunteers who help with applications for jobs, housing, social security cards, food stamps, and birth certificates.

Want to get involved? We are always looking for more volunteers to help us in the store, and we welcome donations of cash, clothing, and household items.

About Us
HHH is more than Heidi. We have a board with seven members who guide our operations, as well as staff members and volunteers who help run the store and provide services to the community.
